Kill Them All

Let's pretend for a moment that I am an unequivocal supporter of mercy killing. I believe people should be able to kill themselves and even ask others to help them. I believe doctors should be able to kill people who are terminally ill, suffering tremendously, or even just unable to pay their bills. I believe parents should be able to kill their children for disobedience, bad grades, or just to save money on groceries. Children should be able to kill their parents for grounding them, making them eat lima beans, or just so they can use the car on Saturday night.

Even if I was that merciless, I could not support death by starvation. Why doesn't one of these compassionate liberals go put a bullet in Terri Shiavo's head? Why doesn't Clint Eastwood come inject her with something that would stop her heart like he did in his stupid movie Million Dollar Baby? Why doesn't the head of the Florida Department of Corrections come put her in an electric chair?

If withholding food is "extraordinary medical means" to sustain life, then why do hospitals have kitchens? Why do mothers nurse babies?

There is no excuse for anyone who supports the murder of Terri Schiavo. If she dies as a result of this conspiracy, I hope her parents sue everyone from the Supreme Court down to the hospice caregivers for wrongful death. Perhaps we could just let them go without food and drink. After all, that would be the merciful thing to do.
